Java Course - am i doing it right?
yesterday i felt a bit depressed, a bit confused.
am i guiding the students or the other way round?
am i helping them?
was what i did correct?
am i expecting too much from them?
Adakah saya keterlaluan? Adakah expectation saya terlalu tinggi?
Am i torturing them too much?
Setelah berbincang dengan Najwan, kami conclude that the course content is too much for the student's level. He told me that i should not expect the same standard as those went for training in India.
Saya kesian tengok mereka struggling to survive. Some of them are already at their limit. I found that my expectation was bit too high until they felt depressed.
The content of the course seems too much for the student's level. Kalau Prof minta untuk pelaksanaan kursus ini pada masa depan, may be saya akan fikir 2 kali.
I don't mind if the students hate me because of the Java Course, but i do hope they wouldn't hate Java Programming because of me.

dh agak la perkara camni akan berlaku… but they attend Java class rite? tat’s mean they reali wan to learn it… try nt too much la… later nxt sem Sanusi will too gembire. y? bcoz all drop DAD. hahaha…. nt need to teach d. wakakaa…
Chang, this course memang bagus, but what i think is that we need to give the students the license to berkampung at the Cyber Center for the whole course (which I think is impossible) like we did @ India. This will give the students the ability to test the system, link to the real database (remote database, not localhost) in real-time, which will jimat their masa.
Anyway, i think this is a good start, but maybe in the future, some subjects should be revised in some area. But well, cutting down the topics will degrade the Infosys standard. Graduated students will not gain the Infosys level of expectation.
Tong: haha… taula kamu ni pandai. BTW, if all the student want to drop the DAD subject, they can do it on the first day itself, itu subjek elektif, so if whole class request for other subject, they might get it. haha. but is it worth it to run away from difficult subject like DAD?
Najwan: Thanks, may be we need to do proper post-mo term after the course ends.
i just came in to give some response. as a student who attends this course. Through this course, i have been exposes more about java. I believe students who join this course because they really want to learn about java.
Dun feel depress, although is not easy, but i will try my best . Ya, different people got different level. Some need people to guide them from the beginning and some no need. Anyway, thanks for exposing us to JAVA.
We like this course just please give us more time to do work and other things. We need rest too.
haha…… As I know from industry, actually for the Java programming you all dun have to focus too much on advance core Java. Because much of the industry now more focus on J2EE which only needs strong OO understanding only…….. so it will be much better if you teach them more J2EE and websphere / server setting……..
