As usual, i ask around my friends who had been in ICT industries.
This time my question was:
"What industry wants from IT graduate? or What IT graduate must have before entering Industry?"

Here are some of the points what Industry wants from IT graduate:
1. Basic Network Skill
Doesn't matter what major the student is, all ICT graduates MUST have basic network skills. ICT graduates must have basic knowledge of networks like how to do simple network configurations, connecting between two computers, sharing and etc.

2. Basic Programming Skill
This doesn't apply to Software Majoring students. All ICT graduate must know how to do programming! Like our dean said: Its a sin for IT graduates if they are not able to do programming. Yes, that's what industry wants from IT graduates! One of my friend even said that some open source language had became a MUST HAVE for IT graduates, for example PHP programming, if you say you are an IT graduate, then industries are expecting you know how to program web pages using PHP. It had become a very common language that everyone should know.

3. .Net and Java Technologies
.Net Programmer? Java programmer? Yes, those two are very popular in industries nowadays. What actually those technologies require? If you want to be a .Net programmer, then u must focus and master .Net technologies including C# and ASP.Net. C# and ASP.Net is more favorable compared to VB.Net. And when you want to be a Java programmer, u must know the J2EE technology, how to develop website with JSP, JSF, and JEE related technologies.

4. Knowledge of Frameworks.
Object Oriented Web Programming like JSP and OOPHP are famous with Frameworks. Java frameworks like Spring, Struct, Seam and etc are used in developing web pages. Therefore, knowledge in these frameworks will be an added value for graduates. My friend said:"You doesn't need to know all the frameworks because its impossible, but you need to know what is framework and how does they work. "

5. Communication Skills
Let say you have a very brilliant idea, without good communication skills, you will not be able to present it properly, which means you will have difficulties convincing you customers to accept your idea. This is what lot of local graduate lacks of and they should improve it.

6. English
Malaysia is the third destination for ICT outsourcing after India and China. With more and more international customers, mastering English language will help you a lot in communicating with clients from around the world. In this globalization era, its either you catch up with others to compete with them or left out behind.

Cadangan dan maklum balas Alumni FTMK, sejauh manakah pihak fakulti meneliti cadangan tersebut?

Genap setahun sudah sejak program "Alumni Give Back, Be Industry Ready" dijalankan di FTMK. Program inisiatif beberapa Alumni FTMK yang masih prihatin dengan FTMK. Walaupun program setengah hari itu sekadar program yang biasa-biasa, tapi pihak Alumni sangat gembira dapat berbalas budi FTMK yang telah mendidik kami.

Dalam program tersebut juga telah diadakan pertemuan dengan pihak pengurusan fakulti bersama alumni dan cadangan serta maklum balas dari bekas-bekas pelajar FTMK telah dibincangkan.
Malah pihak Alumni telah menyediakan laporan mengenai cadangan-cadangan itu untuk pertimbangan pihak fakulti.

Antara cadangan yang telah dikemukakan termasukkan:
1. Tempoh assigment perlu disingkatkan. Ini kerana pelajar perlu dilatih untuk biasa dengan 'tight schedule" yang menjadi rutin biasa dalam pekerjaan nanti.
2. Bengkel 1 perlu diubah semula kepada penggunaan perisian MFC, ataupun sekurang-kurangnya menukar cara pelaksanaan bengkel satu jika masih mengekalkan penggunaan perisian VB.NET. Kenapa kami memberi cadangan sedemikian? Saya akan jelaskan dengan lebih lanjut dlm entry seterusnya.
3. pengenalan kepada "Framework" yang semakin popular di Industri.
dan banyak lagi cadangan yang diberikan.

setelah setahun belalu, hari itu kawan saya (salah seorang alumni yang menjadi "master mind" program itu) menanya kapada saya apakah yang telah berlaku kepada cadangan-cadangan tersebut?
Adakah cadangan Alumni sekadar atas meja dan atas kertas sahaja? Sejauh manakah pihak fakulti meneliti cadangan-cadangan tersebut? Apakah maklum balas pihak Fakulti?
Soalan yang saya tidak dapat jawab.
Mungkin saya akan meminta pandangan dekan terhadap cadangan-cadangan tesebut nanti.

After almost one year scribed to the Streamyx, just recently i realized something.
Why i was so careless until never notice that until 2 weeks ago. Well, cant blame others actually. huhu

2 weeks ago i logged in my streamyx modem router. It has no special purpose but just to explore how does the interface of the router look like. But then suddenly something caught my attention.

The bandwith allocated to the router!
WTH! Why its only 512kbps downstream and 268kbps upstream???
I subscribed Streamyx 1Mbps package, and i had paid for it monthly for almost 1 year!
Why streamyx is doing like this? Do they missed configured it? or they intentionally allocate lower bandwith to me? Was that a technical problem? Or is my router not showing the correct figure?

I asked one of my friend about this and he said that i should complain this to streamyx. I should get i had paid for! huhu. I went to the TM Point and complained this at the customer service.
The complain Number is : 1-36486646630. hahaha... She said "adik, nombor komplen ni simpan elok2, nanti kami akan call adik."

Today is the 9^th day since i made the report, but still haven't receive any call from TM, or they might had called me when i was not at home. huhu. or they are too busy to layan me. well, i still can wait, but i'll call them tomorrow to update my complain status.

Nasib FTMK: Victory is ours!

Dekan memberi tahu bahawa FTMK tidak perlu pindah ke kampus bandar.

ahh~~~~ wat a relieve...

kita berjaya.

FTMK akan berpindah!
bukan ke kampus bandar tapi ke kampus tetap.
Cuma kita perlu berkorban sedikit utk memberi sedikit ruang kepada fakulti lain untuk sementara waktu.
Saya tak kisah, haha. Janji kita di tempat kita sendiri.

Meeting pengurusan tertinggi UTeM sudah selesai.
Dekan FTMK kata belum ada keputusan rasmi yang dibuat setakat ini.
Dekan kata mereka kini sedang menimbangkan 2 option yang ada.
Option apa tu? Jawapan Dekan: "Sorry, cant disclosure the options"
Maka tiada keputusan rasmi lagi sama ada FTMK akan pindah ke kampus bandar atau tidak.
terpaksa menunggu meeting seterusnya.
huhu...
menanti lagila jawapnya...
